Get Strong and Clear About Money

Money touches everything.

How we feel about money gets activated, consciously or not, over and over again all day long. If we’re anxious about money, we’ll be anxious when we eat, adjust the temperature, think about self-care… and more.

Money has an energy – and that energy mercifully can be shifted and crafted by us to a great extent. But that involves addressing our beliefs and blocks about money while also building strength and clarity.

With inflation, supply issues, and more (including war in eastern Europe) in the world, Cathy and I feel it’s time to get together, explore, tap, and craft some changes around how we interact with, exchange, and store the energy of money.

:point_right: Replay is below

And speaking of the energy of money, we practice generosity in work and play every day. For those who need a supportive gift, attend as our guest. For those who can share a bit (or more than a bit), please do and thank you!

We know that even a small shift in our emotional attitude about money frees co-creativity and helps us craft a thriving lifestyle.

It’s melting! MELTING!

We have a frost-free freezer. It makes ice.

If I compare an ice cube freshly made to one made a year ago, one thing is clear: after a year, the ice cube is smaller… even though it never left the freezer. What’s up with that?!?

Our money is like that ice cube. Melting… even if it never is touched in the bank.

The frost-free freezer is designed to melt ice build-up. The “cost” is that food and ice stored in it is exposed to temperature changes every 6 hours or so. It’s by design. We trade-off having to defrost by “losing” some of our stored valuables… or requiring they be eaten sooner rather than later.

Our fiat currency is designed in a similar way. When inflation is around 2% per year, we “lose” value like the ice cube in the freezer. With inflation at much higher rates, it can feel like the ice cubes are in the refrigerator… or melting in your hand!

Eeek!

How do you feel with that awareness?

Honestly, my initial reactions have been anger, disbelief, and sometimes a feeling of helplessness. With such loud emotions, it can be hard to make sense of the next steps to take.

Inflation has been with us for a long time. It’s an unwanted reality. The more I understand it, it feels to me like sewage that doesn’t belong in our rivers and streams… much less our freezers.

So what do we do?

  • We tap together to calm the noise.
  • We tap together to accept the unwanted reality with resilience… rather than flail around in chaos.
  • We tap together to activate our “adaptive circuits” so we can feel for what is right for us individually and as families… all with different situations and needs.
  • We tap together to bring more confidence to our beings.
  • We share options… and the wisdom and intentions behind them (as well as the risk/benefits).

We – meaning those of us who want to co-create a Thriving Lifestyle – do all this because we know that it makes a difference. When we shift from primitive brain fears to hearty calm confidence, we tap into a kind of strength and clarity that… empowers.

It even changes our relationship to money. And money touches everything.

Cathy and I will be co-creating a workshop on Sunday, just a few days from now. You can attend free, or choose to share some of your resource with us. We believe the shared flow of generosity is core to thriving.

Get Strong and Clear About Money
[00:00:00] Get strong and clear about money. This is a real skills workshop about crafting a thriving lifestyle and money is it’s been so like focused on service, either survival or some other things too, that we want it to put it in the context of like, how do we get clear and strong around something that touches everything and has a whole bunch of different energies around it.
[00:00:33] I’m Rick from thriving. Now I’m here with Cathy. Vartuli from thriving now and the intimacy dozier.com. Hi, Kathy. Uh, I love this topic. I think there are so many blocks and limiting beliefs that we carry just because they’re floating around in the ether, um, around money and abundance. And so I love talking about this because I think when we really, if there’s a few little ahas that we can get, they’ll give us a lot more freedom.
[00:01:03] And I personally had huge shifts in my life. Uh, before I started working with Rick, I had really struggled with money. I grew up in a family where people fought about money all the time. In fact, one of my early memories is my sister and I hiding behind those old ugly black plaid, seventies couches, where we’re hiding behind it crying while her parents screamed about money and threw things at each other.
[00:01:27] I grew up my subconscious brain thought muddy. It’s dangerous as stakes. So I went from a very poor household and relatively poor family to, uh, and I went to grad school and I was already $18,000 a year and that had to cover tuition. So I was used to like very frugal. I got my first job and I made 75,000 and I was so a lot of money for me, like Luca muddy.
[00:01:54] And I was always broke always like the first week I would, I would somehow spend it all. And the rest of the week, the month, I was like with my credit card at the grocery store, counting the pennies to hope that it would go through. And it was so stressful. And I worked with Rick and Carol on money issues.
[00:02:11] And one day I just opened my bank account and there were 10, there was $10,000 in it. I was like, what happened? Like I didn’t even, it wasn’t a conscious thing. And I’ve over the years, I, you know, we tend to find new limit limits that are abundance so that we can clear them and go on. But so wherever you’re at, I really think we can make a huge difference as we get clear on this.
[00:02:33] And I love that Rick pick this topic because as we clear this and we have ease in our life so much as money is about so much in our world. And if we have ease with this stuff, if we’re not feeling resistant, guilty, shameful, guilt, whatever we have, we start just enjoying life more and having more ability to experience what we want.
[00:02:56] Okay. So we’re going to be covering a number of things today, um, where the session is 90 minutes, we’ll be taking a seven minute break around the 50 minute or so, mark, um, just to let you know, um, this is being recorded, so you’ll have a chance to watch the replay for those of you that are arriving for the replay.
[00:03:18] Welcome. You’re a part of our circle. It’s great to have you, um, money touches everything. And as, as Kathy said, like in her story, I hear as a coach that, you know, what is this money thing? And we, we learn, uh, by osmosis by direction. We can learn about it in church. We can learn about it from having our allowance taken by, uh, by a bully.
[00:03:52] There are for everyone that I know there’s something traumatic somewhere in there, their monetary history. And, um, so, and that’s not even looking at ancestral things like what our parents and grandparents and others passed down to us in our inheritance about our ancestral beliefs about this technology of money, money, um, because it touches everything.
[00:04:26] It touches our dreams, it touches our creativity, it touches our essential survival, and it also facilitates the expression of the things that really matter to us. Um, if you are a painter. You might be able to craft your own paints and craft your own canvas and your own everything. But chances are for most people today, we rely on specialists and companies and other technologies to, to bring us those things that allow us to do that.
[00:05:03] Um, the music that I might listen to think of the whole line of chain of things, including the monthly fee that I pay for access to that music, um, that, that are a part of it. So money is touching all of these things. It doesn’t touch absolutely everything, but it, it certainly like if you’re giving someone a hug and, and you’re wearing clothes or a nice jacket outside, um, you’re wearing money, you know, you’re wearing what money bought.
[00:05:36] And so in emotional. One more crafting our, our world being aware of like, oh, I do have some stories about money. And as you quiet the story a little bit, like in Kathy’s story money or like snakes, and she’s not very fond of snakes.
[00:06:06] Yeah. We’re not trying to move that one today. Um, but like, okay, if it’s like that, then you try to get away from it all the time. So if your energy is that a fleeing from money, that’s an aspect of your primitive brain saying, oh, get away, get away, get away. If there’s this kind of fighting for grasping for not being able to get it kind of energy, it’s useful, as hard as it can be to be aware of what your.
[00:06:41] Your primitive energy is around money because it touches everything. Then the primitive energy can be driven by trauma can be driven by what you think it takes and the beliefs you have about what it takes to survive on the planet for you. Um, but it’s going to be like flight and fight and some freeze too, like helplessness.
[00:07:05] Um, and maybe it goes to people pleasing the fawn response. That’s part of it. Like I have to suck up to my boss, for example, I have to, I have to be pleasing to them in order to make sure that I get what I absolutely have to have. And when you’re aware of that, that gives you something that you can, you can tap on.
[00:07:31] Absolutely. Um, would it be okay if we talked about the fundamentals of money, because I think there’s just the actual fact of it or is there something you want to do? Well, I’d like to do a little tapping on, I’d like to hear in the chat if you’d like to share, like, okay, so what’s your primitive, primitive reaction or reactions around money.
[00:07:52] Let’s give that a moment. And if you’re listening to the recording, it’s I find it helpful to like fight flight freeze. How do I do that flight? Yeah, it can be like uncomfortable holding onto it enough and there’ll never be enough. Somehow I push it away. It’s hard to come by. I was told I’d never earned as much money as my brother, so I undervalued myself.
[00:08:26] Those can be so powerful. Uh, deep ambivalence around money. And we really appreciate when you share it. We know these are very vulnerable anger about others making money, sometimes guilt. If you want to share a little more about the guilt, what in particular do you feel guilty about? Uh, not safe to have money,
[00:08:51] so, you know, we’re, we could spend, you know, six months easily, very productively shifting the primitive stuff, um, are thriving now circle anything around money is always welcome. You know, any of these beliefs, uh, thriving now.com/circle. If you’d like to join or learn more, um, as you tune into it, how big does it feel to you right now?
[00:09:22] Like anger about someone else making money. How, how intense does that feel, or it’s not safe, whatever you shared or feel inside yourself, how, um, how intense does it feel and where do you notice as you tune into money and all that? It means to me, like, what’s your. Physiological reaction. Emotions are energy that we feel, we give it a label.
[00:09:56] Um, it’s an activation in our energy system, our physiology. And so even just giving a keyword like money, how does it come out of your mouth? Say it out loud. If you’re someplace where you can money, money, money, money, you know, like that’s, that’s like part of my rainbow. All of those are true for me on particular times because money touches everything, but you can, you can do some tapping on this.
[00:10:27] I like to, even though I have these really powerful reactions around money, even though I have really powerful reactions around money and it impacts me, it impacts me because money touches everything because money touches everything. I would really like to be stronger and clearer about money. I would really like to be stronger and clear about money and not let my primitive brain guide the whole show and not let my brain guide the whole show top of the head.
[00:11:02] I have some real survival fears about money. I have some real survival’s fears around money eyebrow. I have some real status issues around money, real status around money. I have guilt about money. I have guilt about money under the eye. I started feeling sick to my stomach. I just started feeling sick to my stomach.
[00:11:24] I feel these feelings in my body. I feel these feelings of my body chin, it doesn’t feel neutral. It doesn’t feel neutral. Collarbone money can be really stressful. Money can be really stressful. Just ask anyone.
[00:11:41] And I would like to be a bit stronger now. I’d like to be a bit stronger and a lot clearer and a lot clearer about how I want the energy of money to flow in my life about how I want the energy of money to flow in my life.
[00:12:02] Take, just take a moment, let gravity do a little bit more of the work. So part of getting stronger and clearer is the. You do around a tapping on what’s active in you, you do, you might like poke that a little bit. Like we just did and see what comes up in your body and then calm yourself. It’s not that much different from lifting weights.
[00:12:32] The weights are fine on the ground. When you lift them up, you’re working at when you put them down, you’re working at, and then they’re back on the ground. And they’re just fine. There are emotions. Sometimes when it comes around money, if you’re building some, some muscle around it, take what’s coming up alive, give it some own.
[00:12:54] And by tapping with some, some clarity, or at least some questioning, like I want to be stronger about money. I want to be stronger about money eyebrow. It touches everything. It touches everything. And I’m, I would like more strength and I would like some clarity would help. Some clarity would help. I don’t want to run from money.
[00:13:19] I don’t want to run from him. I don’t want to fight for money. I don’t want to fight. Come on. I don’t want to freeze around money. I didn’t want to freeze or out of money under the arm. Money is a, a natural energy money is a natural energy. It’s uh, it’s it’s used for exchange is for exchange.
[00:13:48] The mind nervous system really likes coming back to it’s. It’s a usefulness. It’s a, it’s a it’s it’s used for exchange. That’s also used for a lot of other things. And Cathy, did you want to switch to like some of that or let’s you? And I just want to, someone had shared that I was raised to share my wealth all kinds.
[00:14:07] So now I’m trained to do that, even if I don’t want to, I don’t like feeling that I have to share. And I think that’s a really important point. None of us have to share energy with anyone else ever. We get to choose and we get to have boundaries. And if you were taught something different, it might be worth getting a little coaching or doing some work to untrain yourself.
[00:14:28] Because if it’s never feeling like yours, or if you feel like you have it, everybody gets to pull at you. You’re not going to want it in your life. And it is a very useful thing to have in your world. So when you think I have an, we did put in the email to bring money with you because, you know, we didn’t think of that, but if you look at money, And a lot of us have a lot of feelings about it.
[00:14:50] There’s guilt. There’s like, oh, it’s bad. A lot of us were taught. It was kind of greedy or evil to have it. But Rick was talking about being an exchange, a way to exchange. If I wanted to trade something with Jean say, uh, I wanted one of Jean’s, um, readings and I showed up for the reading and I, we didn’t have this way of exchanging energy.
[00:15:13] I had three sheep with me and like, Jean, here are three sheep. Thank you. I’m ready for my reading. You’d be like, ah, they’re messy, they’re smelly. I don’t have anything underneath them. And then the next person shows up and gives her sheet too. And she’s like, now I have six sheets and what if they run away or they die?
[00:15:31] Or like, you know, like it’s not me while I’m having to hurt all those sheep. I can’t just put something in my pocket or, or send it through the ethers. So this becomes a really beautiful way. That we’ve agreed to as a society to say, aye, this is a way of sending my stored energy to you, to use for your things.
[00:15:53] Now, there are people that use this for corruption, for greed, for control, for power. And there are people that use it for a heartfelt energy. I’d like you to try to distinguish. It’s not this piece of paper and cloth and art that we send back and forth. And there’s actually a, you know, it’s very artistic in some ways.
[00:16:13] Um, it’s how it’s used. So someone who’s like trying to make sure they get it and a line to people are using corruption or power over to get this. And I, I do want to acknowledge that in our system, there are, there’s a lot of disparity, there’s discrimination and prejudice. There are systematic systemic oppression in our society.
[00:16:39] Um, That we’re not trying to address today. I just want to acknowledge it. That’s not what we’re looking at. We’re trying, when we have more of this, we can use that to create what we want. And so giving up money because some people use it badly. Does it actually give us more power in the world? It actually gives them more power.
[00:17:02] So I want to exchange this willingly and freely love and light to each other. Like with blessing, like when I paid for sessions for, with Rick back in the day, it was, I was like so grateful for that exchange and so grateful for the energy he gave me. So I felt like the energy between us was very blessed and the money that we had that we were exchanging was very blessed.
[00:17:26] And I do think it’s important to just kind of distinguish that it’s not the money itself, that’s corrupt or evil. It’s how it’s some people use. But us giving up on money because some people use it badly, does not give us more powerful power in a world where money is part of the status. And part of the thing people look for.
[00:17:48] And I’ve had a lot of people I worked with, I worked with a lot of activists, people, and they’re like, well, there’s a lot of people that don’t have money. And I’m like, yes, that’s true. There’s also a lot of people. Whether because of pollution or illness, aren’t getting enough oxygen. And if I hold my breath, does that give more oxygen to them?
[00:18:11] It doesn’t. It just makes me less able to help them if I chose to, it takes away from my life. And Rick’s gonna talk a little bit about how money is like it’s a occur. It’s just an exchange that they just print. It’s not, it’s not this closed circuit where there’s only so much of it. It’s really like sunshine.
[00:18:30] And if I go outside and let set up my. That feels lovely and abundant. And if I, if I never leave my house and I say, oh, there’s not much sunshine. And I’m like, Hmm, what could I do differently? How can I open myself? Uh, so I like to do a tapping here just on that, because money is a store of energy, a store of value.
[00:19:02] And sometimes that energy, especially for those of us that are sensitive, can feel really off. And like my nervous system sometimes has a difficult time, um, differentiating like the neutral carrier of a store of value and like the predominant way that it’s, um, depicted. Right. So like money’s the root of all evil that I heard that when I was growing up money is made this session together possible.
[00:19:45] I don’t, I, I can’t make sense of money, which made this possible, this gathering, um, and money is the root of all evil. And we could like go into all the details there, but I’m from when we’re crafting a thriving lifestyle and there’s something in it that can be both, both pleasing to us and also intense contrast.
[00:20:15] Um, it’s useful to be able to differentiate. And we have, uh, a specific example going on in the world right now, which we’ll tap on in a minute, if that’s okay for folks.
[00:20:30] Even though how I perceive money, even though how I perceived money has a lot to do with what they are doing with it. It’s a lot to do with what they are doing with it. Oh dear. But it makes it really confusing for me. That makes it really confusing for me, because I don’t want any part of that. Cause I don’t want any part of that.
[00:20:53] I don’t want a part of that. I don’t want a part of that, but they use money that they use money. They use money, they use money. Money is a part of that. Money is a part of that. And I don’t want any of that and I don’t want any of those. I’m not that kind of person. I’m not that kind of person genders. And it’s so confusing to me.
[00:21:16] And it’s so confusing to me, collarbone. I’m open to the possibility and I’m open to the possibility under the arm. That money is more like air and water and sunshine. The money is more like air and water and sunshine.
[00:21:44] No, that
[00:21:48] I believe that air and water and sunshine are nature’s technologies. Like water is amazing. It’s just the more that you go into water and its different forms and how it’s used and everything like you could spend a lifetime. Delving delicious Lilly into water. And even there, there are people that are doing experiments with water, where they curse at the water and then freeze it and look at the crystals or they just love on it and let their dog lick the container.
[00:22:23] They go, you’re the best water ever. And you freeze it and the crystals are different. What’s up with this. Um, you know, there, there are ways of going deep into that and we know that water can be used to drown someone. I don’t want any part of that. Um, so right now, for example, money is being used and as a weapon in war, um, how money flows, how it can be frozen and taken and controlled.
[00:23:00] And for me, I feel the innocent people everywhere who are. Already affected who will be affected and who don’t fucking know how bad it could be for them or not come the weeks to come. And I, if you’re sensitive, chances are the situation in Ukraine and Russia and Europe and us and all of them, because they’re, they’re talking about freezing money.
[00:23:36] And, um, the people are standing in lines at ATM trying to get their money. There’s a lot of people in Russia that are against war and also like the economic sanctions, you know, in some ways might be useful as a way to not use weapons. So like, it’s, it’s, it’s really hard to find a balance for me. Yeah. Do you want to lead that?
[00:24:01] It’s really hard for me to find a balance, even though it’s really hard for me to find. Even though it’s really hard for me to find a balance. They’re using money to hurt people. They’re using money to hurt people. And some of those people were really bad. Some of them are doing something really horrible.
[00:24:21] I wish love and light to those who were innocent.
[00:24:27] I wish love and light and clarity and strength to those who are innocent. And I would hope that those that are using power over to have a new awareness. And I would hope that those were using power over others to have a new awareness. They’re using money to punish people. They’re using money to punish people about, I might’ve experienced that in my lifetime too.
[00:24:53] I might have experienced that in my lifetime too, either. I didn’t get a raise. I deserved, uh, I was just punished around me. I can GI, or I felt bad cause I didn’t have enough to go with friends. Ah, it didn’t have enough those moments when I’ve been to have enough. And then as I’d like to have a new relationship with this energy of money, I’d really am asking for a new relationship with the energy of money.
[00:25:23] Say that I’d like to have clarity on how they’re using it. And I’d like to have clarity about how they’re using it and how I want to PO position. Right. Collarbone. This is confusing and it’s important. This is confusing and it is important because it touches everything. Money touches, everything, money touches everything top of that.
[00:25:51] And I want to feel safe and abundant and free. I want to feel safe and abundant and free. Let’s take a breath and notice what’s coming up. When I think when things happen, like the Ukraine, it tends to intensify whatever feelings we have. Um, and it can bring up fear. Our survival brain is like, oh, should I?
[00:26:12] My mother has been hoarding a cans of food for awhile now because of COVID and delivery issues. But she now it’s gone to another level and it’s like, ah, you know, our brain gets, can get caught up in that. It’s like, oh, is there gonna be enough? Is there going to be implications? And I think that we make better decisions from a calm, grounded.
[00:26:34] Then we would from fear and panic. And it’s hard when we see something we’re like this country was just sitting there doing really good taking care of its citizens. And then someone comes in and just starts killing people. So it’s, it’s like, how do we, how do we reconcile that with our world? And I don’t know that there’s a clear answer for myself.
[00:26:55] What I do is I try to amplify the light and try to, to make sure I have resources to take care of those. I love and that the issues I care about, that’s what I know to do in the small area that I’m in. I can’t necessarily solve what’s happening in Russia, but I can try to take care of myself and stay grounded.
[00:27:15] And then if I have enough abundance I’m drawn to, I can send money to help, or I can write the cop, my Congressman, or I can take action because I have enough resources and clarity to know what I want to do, but trying to do it out of fear and panic is that has never worked really well for. Yeah. So in emotional freedom work, there’s, there’s sort of five key essentials that I keep in mind.
[00:27:41] One is the awareness. Like I can’t not to be aware. Um, and then the acceptance, which is core to tapping is even though there’s this unwanted reality, this Annette even disturbing, unacceptable, threatening reality. I’m I want to call myself through acceptance that this is happening. And I, they, the intention there is to ground and center yourself in your own clarity.
[00:28:12] And one of the signs that you’ve gotten there a bit is that you start feeling like there are some things like, oh, I’m, I’m a powerful being, not with power over, but with power with. And if I amplify my light and my love. That’s something it’s good for me. And I believe it’s good for the people that are innocent and wanting the things that I want.
[00:28:38] Um, oh, I’m feeling drawn to, to explore this or this or this. And that’s the difference between kind of that grasping primal. I need to hoard food. I went through that phase, um, to being able to be clearer. So the, when you start coming up with things that you can adapt to, then you can take some inspired action and then allow things to evolve because that’s life.
[00:29:13] Right. And so another tapping I’ve been doing three or four times a day is like, even though there’s some things here that really upset. Even though there’s some things here that really upset me and my primitive brain is feeling pretty helpless and that primitive brain is feeling pretty helpless. These are geopolitical power games, pleaser, geopolitical, power games.
[00:29:38] And a lot of people like me are innocently being affected. And a lot of people like me are being innocently worse and worse. I feel it. And I feel it. I accept where I am and how I feel. I accept where I am and how I feel top of that. I accept where. And how I feel. I accept where I am and how I feel highbrow.
[00:30:03] The situation is not acceptable. This situation is not acceptable. This is not what I wanted in my life. This is not what I want in my life, but my head will not fit in that hole anymore, fit in that hole anymore. So I want to be a bit more calm and confident. So I want it to be a little more common. I really need to be a bit more calm and confident.
[00:30:30] I really need to be on that more common call for me, for me, my family, my family, the people, I love people. I love and to be as resourceful as I can, and to be as resourceful as I can. Well, I get a tingle from that that reminds me that I’m not alone, um, that there are people, all of you and others, millions.
[00:31:00] Who’s primitive brain believes that freedom is important. That freedom is worth fighting for. It’s sometimes worth running from a place that you hold dear to, to find freedom. Like I was really aware of this morning about how much our primitive brain, if, if our primitive brain didn’t care about freedom, it’s not just survival.
[00:31:25] It’s about survival with freedom. There are a lot of us where the, you know, the people who really in their core value freedom and our primitive brain gets activated around it. Um, to be able to channel that say, yes, it matters to me. It matters to me. This is the matters to me enough to be assertive around it.
[00:31:50] And what does that look like for me, where I could be in being in a state of prayer or, um, sharing resources, sharing support for people that are closer, closer to the pain. One of the people in the chat said, thank you, because this really is impactful for, for them. They’re closer to that. Um, the, the drum, the tongue drum that I have was made by Ukrainians, and I took it out and I cried and played, and I still feel teary about it.
[00:32:27] Like, you know, these are beautiful beings who make beautiful art and instruments that, um, and I, by acknowledging the emotional landscape, I believe that we can. We can let money be something that is a resource for us, both a flowing in and a flowing out that that is guided by what matters to us rather than being driven by our perimeter brain.
[00:32:58] Um, there are people that I care about that are being driven by their primitive brain in a good way, because it’s a survival situation. Yeah, well, and in an actual survival situation, our primitive brain is very useful for survival rate. And this may be a little, little bit. I like to think that as we make more good connection with money, we heal our relationship with it.
[00:33:21] And we use it for good and exchange it with loving energy. We shift the predominant energy around money. So that traditionally, a lot of people who have been corrupt or like they say that there’s cocaine on almost every a hundred dollars. Bill has traces of cocaine on it. Like. I think that there are a lot of people have traditionally had power with money and used it not good ways as, and so like maybe there’s a taint around it, but as we start using it with love and joy and freedom, we start shifting that and maybe make it harder for people that want to use it for corrupt things to do.
[00:33:58] So. That’s my very womb kind of a belief that, and I wish that for all of us, that we have ease and abundance, like sunshine, we get as much love and abundance and money because money is useful in our world. Is there are few communes or people that have gotten together and agree to not use that, but it’s a very challenging thing to do in our world.
[00:34:18] And I like the fact that my electricity and my water come to me and I just, you know, I check electronically, goes to them and it’s taken care of, I think it’s a really convenient thing. Can you tell the Cathy actively changes the energy about her money? Like I have to. So, like I could write a rule that every receipt that comes in for a real skills workshop goes automatically into a file folder.
[00:34:52] I don’t because whether someone chooses for free, because that’s what they need, or someone donates or pays a fee or anything like that, this is a direct way that money comes to me. And so by seeing each person’s name, if I’m really behind and I haven’t slept, I may not do that, but probably 95% of the time I look at each person’s name, who’s saying, yes, I want to be connected to this.
[00:35:29] And sometimes the money will come in and I’ll be like, oh, I’m going to set that aside for. My family’s future. And it it’s just because the energy comes in with like, oh, this is, this is to buy us dinner down in the future. Right? So like, you can do something like that. I’ve worked with people who, you know, they’re not part of the economy, they’re not working.
[00:35:58] They don’t have a job. And there’s a lot of noise around that. And when you quiet the noise about like, oh, I have to work to be valuable in the status game. I’m not, I’m not a top of the heap in the status game. I’m not, cause I’m not playing it. I don’t like it. I was raised in it. You know, my grandfather was a member of the country club.
[00:36:24] Any, any person of color. Was dressed in white and serving my grandfather. I am done with that kind of status isolation. You can’t, unless you have a certain entry, uh, amount, as you can tell, I feel pretty strongly about that. I do tap on when it comes right into my face. Um, but here in the thriving now community were we meaning me and the message I’m spreading and, and inviting is yeah, like the Superbowl and the everything else.
[00:37:02] Those money status games are going on. Tap, tap, tap, uh, and. Money is a useful technology. It facilitates things that matter to me. And that’s, that’s where I’m attuned is to be facilitated by money as well as being a facilitator. Right. I, I facilitate this by paying my monthly zoom fee, right? Like this facilitates, this technology, you all who share with us, um, are facilitating that.
[00:37:39] So it, like Kathy said, if you look at a $20 bill, particularly a hundred dollar bills, they say 99% of all hundred dollar bills that have been in circulation, have some illegal, uh, drugs, cocaine, heroin, or fentanyl or something like that that are on them. Um, I believe that most money, energy that comes in I’ve noticed.
[00:38:05] Needs a little cleanup. And by, by taking that attitude, um, you’ll, you might be really surprised at how good $5 feels, um, cleanup. We’re not talking like washing it in the lounge talking about like the energetic, um, oh, like, oh, even though this isn’t enough that I, I really appreciate this flow. So that’s using appreciation when it even doesn’t feel like enough, if you want a gallon of water and you get, you know, a pint, it’s not enough.
[00:38:47] Um, if you need a gallon of water, a pint is not enough. And I, I really have noticed in my journey, self-employed in particular that. The habit of tending to the energy of inflow and the energy of outflow of money. Energy has not magically made me rich. Okay. Like that’s, cause I’m not playing that game. I love being a, we’re going to talk about the energy and tuning, but I’m not, I’m not, I’m talking about something that in a thriving lifestyle, your energetic relationship with money will be a big part of your week, your month, your year, your lifetime.
[00:39:38] And so emotional work around money. Energy really puts you in a very different place. You can then operate from clarity about how you want to be generous. Maybe never want to be generous with actual money, but you can be generous with like, you know, I’m actually really good. Painting bathrooms. And my friend needs their bathroom cleaned instead of paying for someone else to I’m going to use my resource to free me up that day so that I can paint their bathroom.
[00:40:12] Now that’s generous. I throw that out as an example, I just want to, because someone said shared earlier, they felt that they had to be generous. True. Generosity comes through choice, not obligation. Yeah. So if you’re feeling like you have to give, that’s not generosity, that’s your survival brain feeling like you need to show your value or create something different to like kind of a farming thing.
[00:40:35] Look, I belong here. I’m doing enough. True generosity is I don’t have to. And I’m choosing to, so I invite you. If you feel that half to energy, it’s a different, it comes from a different place. And that energy flow will not feel as nourishing for either side as if you can gently like calm yourself and, and decide what’s really right for you.
[00:40:58] Um, so I think with money, with anything it’s like when we have choice, when we’re just grounded and calm and we’re like, oh, what does, what do I want to do with this? Do I want to use it to nourish myself now? So I want, I have, I had, I have a house, so I have a mortgage, like I’m paying debts from the past.
[00:41:17] That will also allow me to feel comfortable in the future. And I’m also, I can send this money to the, I consider it sending it to my future self when I put it in my 401k or my re my savings fund. It’s like, this is for my future self to have a lovely day, one day. Like, because in 10 years this will hopefully be worth more if I’ve invested well.
[00:41:37] So like, I think we get to, we kind of. We think about that. And sometimes it means like I want to send it to someone. Like I was occasionally when, uh, Rick and Indira and gentlemen Emerald are having a rough day, I’ll say it like this does it a sushi night and I’ll send them PayPal so they can get sushi.
[00:41:53] And I love that I have enough abundance to do that. I mean, that’s just fun for them to be able to have an unexpected treat they didn’t have to pay for, but I’m just, I’m using that as an example of, can we have freedom around this rather than kind of, I think a lot of people do budgeting, very rigidly and kind of out of fear or they’re like money.
[00:42:13] Whenever they touch money, it becomes this very rigid half to, and that’s not gonna increase your abundance or ease around money. And it’s not gonna change the energy of this as much as if you can go, oh, wow. This is a blessing here. The universe sent me this, this energy or someone gave, sent it to me. How does it feel aligned for me?
[00:42:33] How do I tune myself to this? And how do I want to share this with different, different parts, different ages of me, or different, uh, different people or our directions.
[00:42:49] So we’re going to take a break here in a little bit. I’d like to talk, just to share some ideas, um, around how we tune around money. We’ve been doing that, like changing the energy as it comes in and changing the energy as it goes out. Um, you can, on the outflow, you can look at like, well, what does this matter to me?
[00:43:12] How do I want to tune it? Um, you know, I, I pay taxes and it’s one of those things. It’s a have to, if you’re a part of a culture that taxes people and. I don’t have control over it, but energetically, I can choose to be like, you know, it’s been a tough year for some people that I really care about. And some people, the government benefits that they get really are making a difference.
[00:43:46] I know it’s made a difference for my family. And so like, I tune that, yes, I’m saying yes, that those resources from me and many others are flowing there. If I’m having, you know, if I’m feeling tight on the outflow, I can pause and say, Hey, you know, I’m noticing I’m feeling pretty, um, contracted right now.
[00:44:17] Is, is that useful for me to hold on to that $10, even though I’ve got it. Um, taking a pause when we noticed that. Our outflow, even if you just pause like once or twice a week and consciously look at how do I feel about this? Oh, I’m kind of dissociating from it. Oh, electric bill. Auto-pay just dissociating from it.
[00:44:46] Now when I do that and I tap on like, wow, that was huge in January. Oh my God. I can’t believe it was so expensive. It was so cold. Oh. And you know, I didn’t totally, didn’t freeze to death all January. You know, the furnace really kept me warm and my family kept me warm at my family.
[00:45:18] And that’s what I got in this exchange. And that’s what I got in this exchange. That’s what I got into this exchange. That’s what I got in the sixteens and the lighting and the lady and the refrigerator and the freezer with the ice that’s melting.
[00:45:38] Uh, it was an exchange. It was an exchange. And this exchange matters to me. And this exchange matters to me.
[00:45:51] Notice how, like, there’s the, oh, I don’t want to let it go. That’s that kind of primitive grip. And by getting clearer, just taking a little bit of time, I already feel better about that amount. It feels like, wow, that was a bargain compared to like chopping wood and being, um, you know, trying. Provide for all of those things.
[00:46:14] Um, and that freed me up a lot of energy to, to do B in my work. They see, I hope that you can feel that I’m honoring that I get triggered around this stuff still, but it is like a four or five sometimes if I’m really tired and eight, but I know where to go with it. To me, that’s part of a thriving lifestyle is that I don’t have to just hide from it or get all angry and use a lot of energy.
[00:46:46] I go like, oh, even though this sucks, I would have loved for it to have been half as expensive. I totally would’ve loved for this to be half as expensive. Yeah. I’m, I’m tuning to all aspects. Yeah. I like the contrast comparison. Cause like I, you know, it is a lot of money and yet I know what it takes to build an electric plant and I don’t want to build one or maintain it and you know, like having to, we wouldn’t have this, if we didn’t have electricity, we’d be able to connect.
[00:47:19] I wouldn’t have lights at three in the morning when I get up to use the restroom and get a glass of water. Like there’s a lot of abundance and I think there’s definitely days when I’m just paying my bills to get them done, but I try to be as mindful as I can and grateful. And I think that that does change the energy of it as we’re, as we’re grateful and appreciative when we can.
[00:47:39] Yeah. Okay. So a couple of other things I wanted to mention before the break, um, Kathy has talked about future self, honestly, until she started saying. I hadn’t like it was years ago. Right? When you, when you brought this up, it was like my future, you know, I’m saving for my future self. Oh, what are you talking about now?
[00:48:01] I understood about a retirement account, right? Like, oh, I’m saving for my retirement, but that can feels completely different than my future self that’s my five years from now. Yeah. Or like, you know, honestly, I don’t know what the future is going to bring, but knowing that I could set aside enough for a massage for my future self, because he may really need it or delight in it.
[00:48:30] That feels very different. I, I, so attuning yourself and noticing the resistance that you may have to even considering your future self, um, That may be something you need some support or baby steps around the first time that I did it, I started being like, oh, it’s certainty. Right? And I actually started shaking a bit and I was just like, oh, I can’t deal with this uncertainty.
[00:49:03] I refuse to deal with this uncertainty. Ah, my future self feels way uncertain. And you know, if I do the laundry today, I am taking care of my future self. My future self will have clean underwear. So you bring it back like a little closer to now can be helpful with, with that. Um, and the other thing that I’m going to weave it in, we’re going to weave it in a little bit more as there are, um, attitudes.
[00:49:38] Tunings that we inherited things that we were told we had to have in order to be a responsible financial person. Um, and we’re gonna, we’re going to touch on some that are like traps that we, as a culture, uh, as cultures have, have fallen into around money, but also like to invite each of us, if you’d like, look at how you feel about your account and buckets and things.
[00:50:14] Um, for example, retirement account always felt like the dead man’s fun, right? Like there was no life in it saving for my retirement. Like retirement is not a concept that I understand. It’s not what I don’t, I, don’t not working a job that I hate that I can’t wait to be finally done. I don’t, I love my work.
[00:50:45] And so retirement fund was kind of like putting money in a, in a, in a we’re we’re instructed to do this. It’s beneficial for tax reasons. There’s all this bureaucratic and other things, and it just had no life for me. I did it. I’m glad I did it, but it still doesn’t. If I call it a retirement fund, it really doesn’t do anything for me.
[00:51:18] Recasting as energy as a freedom from. Uh, particularly a family freedom fund for me. Cause I have a little baby, an eight year old and partner and me. So now it’s like, oh, oh, like stewarding your freedom fund, cultivating a freedom fund. Dang. That feels different. And I, I know maybe I’m just weird. Okay. I know that I don’t wear it.
[00:51:51] I know I totally get that. I’m weird, but changing the label on something and then investing my energy into it, like a freedom fund family. I started a family freedom fund this time last year and have been transforming energy into it. Not all at once, but just like, as I worked, as I engaged, as I did things that matter as I enjoyed my life, I started transforming the energy that was in one place into the energy of the freedom fund.
[00:52:25] I created a separate account within at, and I started moving money a little bit at a time. And I was like, oh, that meant that that balanced, even though it’s small feels so different. So over the break, I invite you to, to consider like, oh, How would I feel since emotional freedom is our thing. If there was a freedom fund for me that I’m cultivating and let’s maybe we’ll pick that up.
[00:53:01] Um, yeah, my mom, uh, thank you. Uh, my mom talked about retirement, retirement retirement. From the time she was 27 years old. Okay. Like that was on her, her plan. Like I’m never going to be able to retire. I’m going to star when I retire, blah, blah, blah. You know, It was really hard for me. I, and so like, there’s an energy of that.
[00:53:27] Yeah. Kind of dull and done and worn out. And you’re creeping towards death versus like let’s have fun and freedom and, and explore, and freedom can start today with bat. So we’re gonna, we’re gonna take a, a short break. I’m gonna pause. And if you’re on the recording, I invite you to pause to, uh, seven minutes.
[00:53:50] Welcome back everyone. Um, it’s really good to have you here, you know, because money touches everything. And every time I say that, I can think of some things that just don’t feel like money is really involved in it. Um, some things where money is like the key focus of it, um, Debt and mortgages and, uh, salaries and, um, setting the pricing for your business, buying groceries, things that are essential.
[00:54:24] Um, I believe in secondary things like LA, where I don’t, uh, you wouldn’t think it’s primary, it may be secondary love. Let’s like, I love recognized family and I ha you know, if I don’t have enough money to fly to see them, then that makes it hard. Or if we don’t, you know, I have to work two jobs. I don’t get to spend as much time with them.
[00:54:44] So there’s oh, there’s I think if it doesn’t touch directly, it does touch most things. It’s a secondary at the least. So, um, I mentioned it in the. And if you go to thriving now, um, about center, um, you can see this if you didn’t get the email, but I talked about like money it’s melting, it’s melting, I’m melting.
[00:55:13] Um, we’re happened to be in 2022 at a time of a high inflation and whatever the percent the number is. Um, the other day I was, I went to the freezer and I took out a chocolate ice cream bar. And it’s one that I occasionally treat myself with. I liked the exchange of money for it, and I took off the wrapper and I looked at it and I stuck out my lip because it was smaller than I remember.
[00:55:57] So I’ve been buying this for like two or three years, and now it’s smaller. And every single one of them in there, all three of them, four of them were four of them were smaller and they were, it wasn’t just my imagination. This bar used to be wider and taller, and it is now a smaller bar and it costs the same.
[00:56:29] I went back and checked, like it’s still the same price from the store, but I’m not getting as many tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, um,
[00:56:49] for energetically sensitive people. We might feel some things around our, our dollars and our, and our, the energy, especially if we’re crafting it. Like, um, I noticed that, uh, the energy that used to be in the double-wide trailer that I had in West Virginia, I had set aside for some today, you know, maybe putting it as a down payment on a house.
[00:57:22] Um, but over time that was like a melting ice cube. So the amount of money that was there, which wasn’t a huge amount, but at the time it was at least like 10% of the average price of the house, where in the area, um, it’s down to like four, 5%. The amount is the same, but what I can do with it as less. And as a technologist and as someone who’s sensitive to like an empathetic person, um, what I didn’t realize was that the dollars that we use are engineered to lose their value.
[00:58:07] They’re not engineered to hold their value. They are engineered and monitored and controlled to lose a certain amount of value. If you look at the federal reserve, likes to have in the U S it’s about 2%, that’s a good, like the ice cube gets smaller, but not so much that you don’t feel like you have ice.
[00:58:32] Um, but it’s engineered for that. It’s not, since we went off any tie to the gold standard at all. Um, money has changed its energy, its container. And I say this because inflation is now something that’s really significant. It’s impactful. My grocery bill is up by 33% from 2020, um, sometimes more and that’s with reducing what we get.
[00:59:01] Um, and it’s not all a Dera, even though she, she loves to, she loves to eat. Um, there’s, there’s a technology. And if you have spent time, like adding to your debt, if you have spent energy feeling like you’re falling behind, if your energy is like, ah, this is never going to happen for me realizing that we’re, we are as humans using technology that was designed to drive growth and drive consumption.
[00:59:44] And so for me, I need to be aware of that and find a place where I can be strong and clear that that’s happening so that I’m not feeling like I’m defective, right? The state of our monetary technology with, with dollars and euros and yen and everything else that’s issued by a government. They are designed to lose value over time.
[01:00:18] Well, I, it, and I don’t know if this helps or not, but when I use a way that helps me feel a little better about it is if I had a cave where I was storing food, like I made beef jerky and dried some berries and stuff and put them back there, there’s going to be little rodents coming in and taking a little bit, someone will degrade, some might get bad.
[01:00:37] So like, they’re like when we store things like, and don’t add energy to them or use them to do something, there’s a natural tendency for them to degrade a little bit over time. Versus if I had a couple sheep and I was actively taking care of them, hopefully they would grow like the herd would grow, but I’m actively putting work into that, if that makes sense.
[01:00:59] So it’s not just, I want to make sure we don’t focus on this as being the only inflation or only place we can lose value. It’s it’s just part of the it’s part of physics. It’s like, whatever we, we try to store as something you tend to lose a little bit over time. Yeah, it’s that, that is a natural process.
[01:01:22] And if we’re aware of it, um, then it allows us, someone mentioned about like, oh, other people can raise prices. Um, and it’s true. Like, uh, if you sell an essential or you have a captive audience, Netflix just raised their price again, uh, to provide even better, more entertainment, look, I would rather pay $15 a month, then 20, you were doing just fine, but you’re really like, like, but unless I’m willing to let go of Netflix, um, they, they have, they have me, uh, my email, you know, there’s a lot of ways to do this.
[01:02:12] I bring this up one because it’s in the news, but so it’s in our awareness. But as an, as people who are energetically sensitive, I don’t want the fact that it’s a melting ice cube, um, to trigger me. I w I don’t believe that my choice of where my rates are at a given time is best made from a place of, of being triggered or fearful.
[01:02:44] I could be. It would make sense, and it’s not that as useful for me as calming down.
[01:02:53] Um, so I’d just, I’d, I’d like to, to just do a round of tapping on that, and then we’ll, I see, we have a hand. Oh, uh, no, we don’t have a hand raise. If, if you change your mind, you’d like to raise your hand. We’re happy to tap on that. Whatever’s coming up for you. Um, Even though inflation is a thing, even though inflation is a thing and some of it comes from world events and some of it comes from world events and some of that comes from the technology, the money we use.
[01:03:25] And so that comes from the technology of the money we use and how it’s managed and how it’s managed. And that’s out of our control. That’s out of our control. It doesn’t mean we’re powerless. It does not mean we’re powerless. I am not powerless here and powerless here, eyebrow. I feel it. I feel it fiery. I feel the change.
[01:03:47] I feel the change under the eye. It’s in my food, my food it’s in my bills, my bills, some of my relationship to money. It’s in my relationship to money. And I’m open to shifting and changing that a bit. And I’m open to shifting and changing that a bit and looking for options that are right for me and looking for options that are right for me.
[01:04:13] My energetic relationship matters, energetic relationship matters. And it’s a good, it’s good to tend to that for me. And it’s kids attended that for me.
[01:04:27] A lot of times, again, sometimes people jump into it way too big. Come back to something that’s a little closer at hand, what feels right to you? Um, what feels a little more right to you? Um, so for example, in an inflationary environment, if I, if I’m putting something aside for my future self, um, it’s a bit, like we just took something out of the freezer that we had made about two months ago.
[01:05:04] Right. Mate was less expensive then. So guess what? We’re having a lower cost meal tonight. Um, cause it was stored in a way that that could keep for awhile. Um, and there was an awareness that, you know, meat prices are going up every, if I make a double portion and I have the resource to do that, I can set it aside.
[01:05:31] It may be that, um, you know, your energy flows in, uh, in a different direction about what you want to set aside for your future self, or you’re wanting to tune to the inflow, your resistance to raising amounts or anything. So, um, I have, I have one other thing to talk about, but let’s do some tapping with our volunteer tap.
[01:05:58] Do you want to do that? Yes.
[01:06:04] Hi, thanks for bringing this well, what’s coming up for you. So like both my parents were really cheap and like my mom, where she wears like the same clothes for years, just the same ugly worn out clothes for years. And my dad would do the same where the local hardware store would. Um, they offered a 5%, um, rebate, not rebate, but if you found something you just bought somewhere else for a flat percent less.
[01:06:34] So he goes through the paper, looking for ads and then go back with his receipt and, and the ad, the newspaper ad, and then get like a dollar back or something. So he’d spend like hours getting the dollar. I like probably spent at least an hour. Yeah. But it was like, they sort of ruined my, like. They sort of ruined it for me.
[01:06:56] Like I can spend money. It doesn’t matter what I spend money on. Like if I buy a new place or I buy my dog, dog food, it’s like, I just, it makes me uncomfortable every time I do it. Even if I go like coffee and spend $6, where do you feel that discomfort in your body? And so my stomach, it’s sort of this anxiety, how to chop, even though they ruined it for me, even though they ruined it for me.
[01:07:20] And that’s the end of all, things that is the end of all things. They ruined money for me. They ruined money for me. They were so frugal. They were so they were cheap shuts. I can’t enjoy money. I can’t enjoy money. And I’m just stuck here and I’m stuck here, not enjoying money forever and ever forever ever until I die top of that top of that, they ruined it for me.
[01:07:47] They ruined it for me. They were very, very scared around money. They were very scared around. Side of the eye. They had a very strong scarcity mindset. They had a very strong scarcity mindset under the eye, and I’m just stuck with this. I’m stuck with their crop under the nose. I feel it in my stomach. I feel it in my stomach, chin, this intense anxiety, intense anxiety polygon.
[01:08:12] And I’d really like to give it back to them. I would so love to give it back to them, cause it’s not mine under the arm, but it’s really hard to do that. And it’s really hard to do that top of the head. I feel like they ruined that for me. I feel like they ruined it for me. I wrote, they really, really did for me.
[01:08:29] It really ruined it for me side of the eye. I was so sorry. Survival brain. So sorry. Survival brain under the IBM printed really hard. That was imprinted really hard. And then the nose and it’s not actually true. It’s not actually true. 10 other people don’t do the same. Other people don’t do the same thing.
[01:08:50] Collarbone. I’m carrying their trauma and carrying their trauma under the arm. And I asked you, you never stopped me release this. I asked the universe to help me release this problem, that it doesn’t actually serve me in any way. It doesn’t serve me in any way at all. I brought my survival brain is holding on really tight, but my survival brain’s holding on really tight side of the eye because they insisted so hard.
[01:09:14] This was important because I insisted so hard. This was important under the eye I in every action, indeed. In every action indeed. Under the no, but I don’t think they actually understand what they’re insisting. I don’t think they understood what they’re insisting and they just wanted to feel safe. They just wanted to feel safe Halliburton and this doesn’t feel safe to me.
[01:09:37] This doesn’t feel safe to me. And then they have, what if I could start holding this a different way? What if I could start holding us a different. Top of the head. What if I could exchange money with gratitude, but if I can exchange money with gratitude for the abundance I get back in return. Sorry, what was that?
[01:09:55] Did the abundance I get back in return. Okay. Abundance. I get back in return. Just take a breath and see if there’s any room at all. Cause sometimes it’s like, I don’t know if you’ve ever had a screen pop edge to edge and you can’t get it down. And you’re like, ah, there’s no room. And I know sometimes beliefs feel that way to me.
[01:10:10] Like they’re edge to edge. There’s no space, but if we can just get just a little sliver of something else, we can start shifting. That’s kind of stuck there. Just notice the stuck there, if you can. And just like notice that it just feels stuck. And when something’s stuck that hard, there are some, we have some belief or experience that’s angry that usually, um, and it may not be right now, maybe when you’re sleeping or whatever, if you can identify a time when firstly.
[01:10:41] We have the most leverage when we go back, if we can, to the core time that we learned something. Um, so if you can think of like, if you don’t have it now that’s fine. But like when did you learn that money had to be hoarded and begrudgingly passed forward? Oh, as early as I can remember. And it was probably like, oh, you’re just not worth spending money on.
[01:11:02] I mean, my dad did tell me that there was no money for me to go to college, which was not true. So I don’t know if that’s for us, but so that you’re not working sports funding money on might be like that. The anchor for this, because whenever there’s a belief, that’s so locked. There’s a core belief or thought about it.
[01:11:23] Karate chop, even though they taught me, I wasn’t worth spending money on, even though they taught me it wasn’t worth spending money on. They even said that they basically told me that I don’t like this story. I don’t like the story. And I still believe this story and I still believe it anyway. And I go back in time and I go back in time.
[01:11:45] It’s when I first heard this too, when I first heard this and I invite that little one to tap with me, I call bullshit and I invite the little one sits up with me.
[01:12:00] Hi, what? Hi honey. Talking to the little one.
[01:12:07] I bro, I get that. This is really tough. This is really hard side of the eye. It’s not a nice story to hear, not a nice story to hear under the eye. And mom and dad really believed the story. Mom and dad really believed their stories under the nose. I have good news for you. I have good news for you and mom and dad were full of shit.
[01:12:29] They were totally full of shit probably about, and I know you’re holding onto this belief. I know you’re holding onto this belief. I’m in the army, but we don’t have to keep it, but we do not have to hold onto it for them anymore. Top of the head, we can make a new belief for us. We can make a new belief for us.
[01:12:47] I brought your soul worth it. In fact, you’re so worth it. In fact, side of the, I came back through time to be here with you. I came back through time to be here with you under the eye. That’s a pretty neat trick. Isn’t it pretty great trick under the nose. What if you are worth it, but if you are worth it and they were just so scared, they couldn’t see it.
[01:13:08] They were just so scared. They couldn’t say it Alibaba. I’m so sorry you held this belief. I’m really sorry. You help us fully under the eye. What would you like to hold instead? What would you like to hold on set top of the head. Would you help me shift this? Would you help me shift this? Just take a breath and see what you notice.
[01:13:32] Well, just that, I mean that I am worth spending money on. So the mother, whether it’s the coffee or the house. So, um, what I imagine the muscle you have around spending money for yourself with, with, uh, with a feeling like you deserve, it is pretty weak. You haven’t used it a long time.
[01:13:55] Oh, I can, I can, I can buy things, but then I feel bad. Like it’s easier for me to give other people money. Yeah. So when you feel bad after that somehow makes up for the fact that you spent money on free money and yourself. So what if you could feel just a little less bad?
[01:14:15] Yeah. Is that like, is it like one thought that came to me is like buying a coffee. That’s a dollar more expensive than you normally like exercising the muscle. I’m not saying go out and spend all the money everywhere, but like, well, I’m going to buy the next, next dollar expensive, um, more coffee. I’m just going to exercise that muscle.
[01:14:35] Or if you feel bad, see if you can distinguish this bad feeling is not mine. It’s theirs, but you could, we just have to anchor that a little bit. Karate chop. Whenever I spend money on myself, I feel bad. Never. I spend money on myself. I feel bad. I think that means that it’s bad to spend money on me thinks that means it’s bad to spend money on me, but actually it’s probably my parents’ beliefs, but it’s probably my parents’ beliefs.
[01:15:04] Yeah. What if it’s their feelings, their feelings and not mine top of the head. The next time I feel bad for spending money. Next time I feel bad for spending money. I brought, I’m going to notice if it’s mine or. I will notice if it’s mine or theirs side of the eye. And if it’s theirs, if it’s theirs under the eye, I’ll send it back to them and can have it back under the nose.
[01:15:27] And if it’s a mixture, I’ll just send their part back to them. If it’s a mixture, they can just have their port back 10. I’m going to practice, not feeling bad about taking care of myself and going to practice, not feeling bad about taking care of myself, how this might be challenging. This might be challenging under the arm and I’m worth it and I’m worth it anyway.
[01:15:47] Compliment. It will get easier. The more I practice it’ll get easier. The more I practice, just take a breath and see, how does that feel? Like something you can actually incorporate? Yeah. I mean, just the noticing is obviously changes something. Yeah. I think a lot of times we take a feeling as. And I do think our feelings are our sensations in our body are very valid, but we often interpret them in a way that’s not useful.
[01:16:17] It’s like, oh, I’m feeling bad. Therefore, I am bad versus I’m feeling bad. Maybe I’m not, I have a thought or something. That’s out of alignment with who I am. You know, it’s kinda like if I heard something in a different language and I understood part of it and I decided it meant one thing when it really meant something completely.
[01:16:34] Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So I would encourage you just to like, see if you can take baby steps to practice this. A lot of this is just baby steps forward. That can make a huge difference. Okay. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you for raising your head and happy with us.
[01:16:54] Ah, for me, freeing up some of that energy was, um, was doing something for my future self to like, oh, I want to buy. Tomorrow morning and I’d set aside some money. Um, and there was something about like, oh, like, and once I wrote a note to myself, um, right, like you worked really hard yesterday and didn’t go well.
[01:17:24] So I wanted you to, and what’s interesting is then I have Kathy show up in my life and she wants to do that for me. And there’s no resistance to her being generous, um, back to me and my family when she feels drawn to do that, because I sort of attuned to that. Um, We are crafting and we’re letting go of archaic things.
[01:17:47] We’re finding replacements and upgrades and other, other aspects that, that matter to us more and putting some assertive energy into it. I do believe that, you know, for me to counteract both my mother and my father and my, my ancestral beliefs about money and what it meant to be a good human or successful, or, um, to have status and power in the world, I’ve had to really be assertive.
[01:18:16] And I appreciate it, you know, Margot bringing some of that as you know, I heard your assertiveness toward their energy because I, I think that that. What it often takes is a quality of assertive. Now this is not mine. This is not the way I choose to live. And I’m going to find things that really matter to me, and even be able to articulate a different story about what money is.
[01:18:40] I appreciate everyone who’s given Kathy and I a chance to articulate a different story. Um, Katie, I wanted to mention about, uh, the other monetary technology. Um, but I wanted to see if there’s anything we only have about three or four minutes. I’d love to do another column money in different aspects of it coming up.
[01:18:59] But I think, yeah, I’d love to hear it. I love what you shared and I, I, you were so knowledgeable about this. Yeah. So, so again, like money is one of the ways that we use energy and there are technologies for thousands of years, gold was our technology because it’s precious. It requires work to, to go out and, and at least get the gold out of the ground.
[01:19:24] I have mixed feelings about pat as a, as a modern use, a modern money. Um, but proof of work is one of the things that has been part of what’s made hard money, money that holds its value. For example, if you had enough goal to buy a loaf of bread in 1500, and you brought it forward to 1750, it was the same amount of gold to get the bread.
[01:19:55] Maybe even slightly less because bread making technology was improving and farming was improving. Um, but our dollars, the minimum wage, about three years after I was born was a dollar 25. And if you were given a dollar 25 and silver quarters, the silver in them as a precious metal today would be worth about $23.
[01:20:24] So the minimum wage in silver, if it had stayed would be worth $23, um, we’ve been in this, um, In this realm. And I say that because I feel like money is one of the base layers for freedom. And it’s not necessarily the way that I was taught that what you needed to do was to have enough money that you could just, you know, yet, fuck you money, right?
[01:20:51] Like that was financial freedom you had fuck you money, which, you know, at one point in my life was a million dollars. Now it’s 10 and who knows by the end of the year, it could be a hundred. Um, I don’t know what that is. What I want to do is look for the ways that that dynamic has destabilized me and maybe taken away some of my creativity and to look for technologies that are rising, that have a different energy space.
[01:21:21] So I’m just going to mention that there’s a Mt. Monetary technology that was created in 2009. We have 13 years of experience with it. It’s called Bitcoin. Now Bitcoin is very different from all the other cryptocurrencies out there. And I very tenderly want to admit that I, even as a technologist, I have spent hundreds of hours trying to like tear it apart.
[01:21:52] And, and, you know, like, what is this thing? Because it touches so many different apps because money touches so many different aspects of freedom and choice and censorship and power over and control. I just want to say that. Um, for me, the way that I’m paying my future self that’s at least four years from now is that I put some of it in Bitcoin because it’s engineered to be hard money that is freedom oriented, censorship resistant.
[01:22:30] I I’m able to, without touching visa, MasterCard banks or anything, I’m able to contribute money toward some kids and Africa who are learning to surf and becoming lifeguards in a tourist. You know, they live very simply to say the least, but I can. Get down Bitcoin SATs, a Bitcoin is separated out into 100 million SATs.
[01:22:59] So the kids work on SATs and they get paid for, for teaching and they get paid for lifeguarding and to get paid for cleaning up the beach. And they, and they’re being supported by people like me, as well as the local community. And so that energetically is how I enter relate so that I have, if I have $7 and 11 cents that comes to me for this workshop.
[01:23:23] And I, I take that and I put it into Bitcoin for my future self and my family five or more years from now, that feels really good to me. And it keeps getting feeling better and better. And it is, it has a lot of different aspects. And I’m saying that I. I’m open to answering questions and helping support people who choose to look into this.
[01:23:53] Um, if you’re turned off by the speculators, it’s a bit like being turned off of hundred dollar bills because of the criminals. There’s a lot of human rights stuff. That’s happening with Bitcoin around the world. There’s a lot of, um, the, the movement of freedom and choice. There are people that have left Ukraine with 12 words in their head, and they were able to get across the border and then have access to resource through their Bitcoin wallet.
[01:24:26] So if you’d like to know more. I’d like to, before I do a workshop on that, I’d like to engage with some people out on thriving now.center. Um, so if you have questions kind of let me know where, what you’ve heard, what, where you’d like to go with it. Um, and I just, I just appreciate that there wasn’t an, uh, someone we don’t even know who he or they were.
[01:24:55] She was who created, pulled together a lot of pieces to create a technology, which now is serving today. People around the world who, um, can own own a store of their energy imperfectly, um, their issues. Around stability, but not over the longterm so far. So I leave it with that as an invitation for you to engage with me and the community or other resources.
[01:25:29] There’s some wonderful books that help understand have helped me to understand why my energy around money was so difficult to, um, to stabilize. And one of those was that melting ice cube of inflation, whether fast or slow it’s inherent. And one of them is like the aspect of hierarchy and how we systemically have made it.
[01:25:56] So that it’s a lot easier for people that are privileged to benefit from our money than the people that are not. And I stand for us all, having. Access to something that’s a good store of value that isn’t controlled. And I have a big scandal. I have been quite as well, but I like to have a balance of both.
[01:26:18] So yeah, absolutely. Make sure that, yeah, I love Rick is very, very knowledgeable about this. He, he was the one who taught me about it and made it’s my own research too. But, um, I just want to, because we’re at the end of the call and I see, looks like there’s a lot of interest in, in more calls on money, information about Bitcoin.
[01:26:37] I’d like you just take a moment if you would, and notice that you shut up for a topic that for many people is more difficult to talk about than sex. There’s a lot of shame and status and worry, and we should, I ought to know this. You shut up and you did some work on this and even a little shift changes your trajectory.
[01:26:57] You don’t have to change your whole attitude about debt today, or about money today. Just a little shift in some practice building those muscles can open a whole new windows for you. So if you would just notice your courage today brought you to a place where you could address something in a loving circle with amazing folks, with a lot of courage and you were here and you did something that’s going to change your future in a very positive way.
[01:27:24] And I just want to honor you for doing that. Cause I think so many times we take it for granted because there’s a lot of people that did not do this today. They were off doing something else and you chose to use your time in a way that I think will add a lot of value to your world. And I just really appreciate your courage and your willingness to do this.
[01:27:41] And Rick, I really appreciate the love and the thoughtfulness you bring to this at all. Yeah, thank you all for making this possible. It’s time together. Thriving. Now that center is a place where we cultivate the energy of our community and we share and support and wisdom and questions and feedback. So not only is the replay paste posted there.
[01:28:05] Um, but also, uh, you are invited, uh, with, with Hardy enthusiasm. If you’d like to, uh, to drop a note there, if that’s a bridge too far for you support a thriving now.com comes to Cathy and I, and, uh, that’s, that’s fine too. So thank you all. Appreciate it. Have a great day. Bye for now.

We covered…

  • Money Touches Everything!
  • Sometimes money is part of a “game” or corruption related to status, control, and even war.
  • Family rules about money, and ancestral issues, can make feeling solid and clear about money a challenge… one that takes assertive energy and skill. (Which is why we’re doing the workshop!)
  • We can shift energy around money.
  • By consciously choosing upgrades for our stores of money energy, it can activate us more and make them more “worth tending to” (e.g, upgrading from emergency fund and retirement fund to… Freedom Fund!
  • The US Dollar, Euro, etc., are all “fiat” currencies – designed to lose value through inflation over time. They are maintained to do just that! Yes, sometimes inflation gets wild, but inflation is a part of their design and also creates real challenges for anyone wanting to save for the future.
  • Bitcoin is a new monetary technology that shares many of the “hard money” attributes of gold while also being transmittable across vast distance. It’s worth learning about if you want to save and not only invest your money saved for your Future Self and those you love.

Hi-this was such a great workshop and I’m looking forward to more workshops on this topic! Rick, you mentioned Bitcoin and I would love to hear more about it. Specifically around how much to invest in Bitcoin, where to do it (I’m using Venmo now for it because it is easy) and the difference between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Right now I have a little bit of a few different Cryptocurrencies. Also what is a block chain? So those would be my questions and I’m also curious about why you feel like it has a "cleaner"energy than our currency and how it is more accessible. thank you for the invitation to explore this! It is very practical and useful but I also love exploring the energy around it as well.
