I have a friend who is from South Africa. He’s an interesting guy. He’s a big, rough and tumble, street-wise boxer and like many street-wise folks that I know he has a sparkling intelligence and a great sense of humour. Tonight I was sitting beside him at the blues jam and we were ‘shootin’ the breeze’. I can’t recall what provoked it but he said to me… “My personality is not my attitude. My personality is who I am…my attitude is who you are…”. Now, I always treat trite ‘truisms’ with some suspicion but there is a great deal of truth in those words I thought.
