Love to Asheville from Juneau

We’re fine in Juneau. Jem’s sister’s wedding is today, and we’re doing our best to focus on that. Many loved ones in Asheville we’re connected to without power, internet, ability to leave, and some have lost their homes and taking shelter.

Lots of praying.

We won’t return until power and connectivity are restored at home and there are clear roads to go to/from home. We’ll explore options tomorrow – today is about the wedding. Love to you all!

So happy and relieved to know you’re okay Rick. I don’t watch TV news (or any news it would seem!) so I just learned of the hurricane less than an hour ago and immediately needed to know you and your family are okay. I was driving and heard about it on NPR…my belly did a flip!! So, I’m very happy to learn you’re in Alaska and safe. I hope you are able to return home soon and are able to get back to a ‘normal’ life as quickly as possible.

Peace and love to you my friend,

Thanks buddy. We’re in Alaska heading Wed to be with Cathy in California, until whenever. Home is fine, but NO utilities almost anywhere in Asheville. So we’ll stay with Cathy until… ??? Love to you. Thanks for checking in.

“There’s no place like home…there’s no place like home…” :frowning:

I’m so sorry you’re in this predicament. It’s great that you have a safe place with Cathy for as long as you require…that’s comforting I’m sure. And fantastic that your home is intact. And I know that you and Jem are emotionally resourceful enough to make it work… but still…crap!

I’m just so pleased and relieved that you’re all safe and sound…can’t say that enough!

Peace,
G

We heard from a neighbor in the community that roads near us are passable - didn’t lose the bridges there. Food/fuel are short, and water distribution sites have super long lines. But they are staying for now, and we’ll wait until things are restored - potentially weeks the neighbor is hearing for water/sewer and electric is still unknown.

AND! We’ll be in Cathy’s warm embrace tomorrow, we hope!
